Optimist

The COYCH sails the youngest from the age of 7 on Optimist. We can thus make the sail discover the children and bring them for those who wish to the high level.

Through 2 different groups each one can find its pleasure and its level of practice.

Beginner / Criterium

Wednesday from 2pm to 5pm. This criterium group consists of 9 children aged 8 to 12 from the summer sailing school of COYCH or the initiation group of the previous year. It is an improvement group that will make the debut in regatta once a month on the occasion of the critériums gathering about thirty riders. A departmental final takes place in June with 60 children. The best elements of this team then move to the next level if they wish, the optimist league.

League / Competition

Wednesday and Saturday from 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm. A group consisting of 8 riders aged 9 to 14 years previously trained at the COYCH in criterion or coming from other clubs. These riders are divided into 2 benjamins groups (up to 11 years) and minimal ones (from 11 to 14 years old).  They compete throughout the year in the league championship (from Marseille to Monaco with 1 to 2 regattas per month). The championship includes a hundred minimal and some fifty youngsters. Gathering all the southern half of France) which take place 3 times a year with 180 minimes and 70 benjamins. These regattas give access to nationals, French championships and international championships.

For this year, the objective will be to have the maximum number of qualified riders at the French championship and the national regattas and beautiful performances on the regional regattas for the youngest.
